Shelley Gable

Shelley Gable, 62, of Mandan, passed away August 23, 2021, at her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 27, 2021, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Josh Waltz as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 26, 2021, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Shelley was born in Bismarck on May 28, 1959, to Genevieve and Sidney Peterson. She grew up in a busy household with six siblings. After graduating from Mandan High School, Shelley attended college at Minnesota State University Moorhead. She raised her three children with James Gable. After working briefly in private practice while living in Fargo, ND, Shelley spent most of her career working as a Speech Therapist at Solen/Cannonball schools and then at Wachter Middle School. She was a devoted teacher who always went the extra mile for her students. Shelley was an outstanding mother and grandmother. She cherished spending time with her granddaughter, Maggie. She loved traveling and spending time outdoors. Whether it was zip lining down mountains or going to the beach, there never was an adventure too big or too small for Shelley. She also loved gardening, canning, and quilting with her sister, Mary.

Shelley is survived by her children, Mackenzie (Abigail) Gable, Jacob Gable, and Samuel Gable; granddaughter, Magdalen Gable; siblings, Yvonne (Bob) Russell, Mary Lewis, Bob Peterson, John (Kathy) Peterson, and Carla (Larry) Barrios; and several nieces and nephews.

Shelley was preceded in death by her parents, Genevieve and Sidney Peterson; sister, Beverly Peterson; brother-in-law, Bill Lewis; and sister-in-law, Diane Peterson.
