Pat Voigt

November 9, 1962 — July 13, 2021

Patrick A. “Pat” Voigt, 58, Mandan, died unexpectedly on July 13, 2021.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, with Pat’s nephew, Rev. Eli Voigt officiating.  Burial will be at Heart River Cemetery, southwest of Mandan.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a prayer service at 7 pm.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Pat was born November 9, 1962, the sixth of nine children to Pete and Dawne (Dahlen) Voigt.  Raised on the family farm along the Heart River southwest of Mandan, Pat learned from an early age to lend a hand, work hard, and get dirty.  Hunting and trapping was in his blood and something he enjoyed throughout his life, whether he was coon hunting, trapping mice, or shooting pigeons in the barn.  Pat graduated from Mandan High School in 1981.  He enjoyed working for Don and Peggy Grosz for a number of years.  Pat returned to the family farm where he helped run the dairy farm operation and was great at sheering sheep.  Pat could strike up a conversation with anyone and enjoyed playing a hand of cards whenever possible.  He loved playing softball with his brothers and friends for many years.  A love for reading, Pat especially liked Louis LaMoure, and had almost his entire collection.  In 1991 Pat married Bernice Welk and they made their home southwest of Mandan, not far from where Pat grew up.  Pat worked at the local scrap yard and with furs for many years.  He enjoyed a simple life and always knew how to make do.  He collected many things and was a pack rat and treasure hunter.  If he could find it or make it at home, he didn’t need to buy it in town.  He was the fun uncle for many years which trained him to be a Dad.  He always made time for his kids and grandkids and found ways to have fun.  At family gatherings he was always holding a baby or tickling a little kid.  Pat had a great mischievous grin and a huge heart.  He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Blessed to have shared in his life are his children, Justin (Jessica) Voigt, Mandan, Candace (Dusty) Hasper, Bismarck, Chelsea (Curt) Rebenitsch, Fort Rice, and Sarah Voigt (Tobie Schick), Mandan; 9 grandchildren, Shentelle and Kassie; Sage and Shelby; and Michaela, Katelynn, Pepper, Alyssa, and Peyton; his former wife, Bernice Voigt, Mandan; 7 siblings, Vicki (Richard) Clarys, Olive, MT, Valeri (Donald) Entzel, Mandan, Arni (Bert) Voigt, New Salem, Becci (Wayne) Braun, New Salem, Owen (Becky) Voigt, Helena, MT, Jay-deceased (Lynette) Voigt, Bismarck, Milo (Tammy) Voigt, Mandan, and Luke (Shauna) Voigt, Mandan; an uncle, Dennis (Roberta) Dahlen, Halliday; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Dawne Voigt and his brother, Jay Voigt.
