Dorothy Zander, 89, Mandan, died July 15, 2021.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with Fr. Fred Harvey celebrating. Burial will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Parish vigil at 7 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Dorothy was born February 24, 1932 in Irvine Alberta, Canada to August and Rosa (Hausauer) Doerr. She graduated from Bismarck High School. On June 12, 1951, Dorothy married the love of her life, Fred A. Zander Sr. Over the years, she enjoyed working at Woolworth, Holiday Inn, and Speedway Restaurant. Dorothy was a wonderful cook. She liked to play Pinochle and looked forward to spending each winter in Arizona since 1979 where she acquired many new and lasting friendships. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy and Dorothy loved attending their activities.
Blessed to have shared in her life are her three daughters, Karen (Irve) Wickham, Phyllis (Myron) Rogstad, and Mary Ellen (Brad) Ereth; four sons, Fred Zander Jr., Bruce Zander, Brad (Karla) Zander, and Mark Zander, all of Bismarck/Mandan; 14 grandchildren, Michael (Lindsay) and Brent (Kimberly) Wickham, Amber (Bryan) Kocourek, David (Alicia) and Casey (Katie) Rogstad, Kristy (Doug) Kasper, Brandon and Heidi Zander, Heather (Trevor) Barry, Brittaney (Todd) Schmidt, Madysen Zander, Allison (Justin) Fettig, Jamie (Jonathan) Cook, and Kyle Ereth; 26 great grandchildren; one sister, Florence Thor; two brothers, Roy Doerr and Harold (Jackie) Doerr; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many Arizona friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 56 years, Fred Sr.; an infant daughter, Susan; six brothers, Jake, Emil, Adolph, Reynold, Almer, and Melvin; two sisters, Theresa Koeller and Lea Grinde; and numerous in-laws.
