Deloris Palmer, 96, of Mandan, ND passed away June 25, 2022, at a Mandan care center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 1,2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mandan. Burial will follow at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service.
Deloris was born on April 6, 1926, in Maddock, ND to S. Edwin and Minne (Hovland) Anderson. She was baptized in 1926, at Imanuel Lutheran Church, Maddock. She was confirmed at the North Viking Church, Maddock, in 1941, and Christ the King Catholic Church in 1971. In 1945, she graduated from Maddock High School in a class of five girls because the boys were fighting in WWII. Deloris married Harold J. Palmer on April 16, 1950, in Minnewauken, ND.
Deloris worked in retail until 1954, when she and Herald moved to Mandan, ND where he was employed at the American Oil Refinery. She became a housewife until Harold’s death on September 6, 1976. In 1979, she worked at Wicham Jewelers until 1989, when she retired.
Deloris was involved in Christian Mothers, Lady Elks, Hospital Volunteers, and RSVP. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, traveling, volunteering, and watching Minnesota Twins baseball.
Deloris is survived by her son, John Palmer, Mandan, ND; sisters, Lois Johnson, Maddock, ND, Joyce Tveito, Mandan, ND, Gwen Branner, Boise, ID; brothers, David “Pete” Anderson, Fallbrook, CA, Roger Anderson, Orange County, CA; sisters-in-law, Maralyn Palmer, Rochester, MN, Eileen Thies, Deer River, MN; and several wonderful nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold J. Palmer; sons, Charles and David Palmer; her parents, S. Edwin and Minnie Anderson; sister, Bernice Oksendahl Wisness; and brothers, Eugene and Richard “Dick” Anderson.
