Daryn Geiger

Daryn Matthew Geiger, 56, of St. Anthony, passed away Nov 22, 2021, at Sanford Health, Bismarck.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with Father Todd Kreitinger as celebrant.  Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 26, 2021, from 5-7 PM at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan , with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7 PM.

Daryn was born May 9, 1965, to Donald and Marlene (Schlosser) Geiger in Kirkland, WA.  He attended school in Mandan and graduated from Mandan High School in 1983.  On May 8, 1987, Daryn married Kyla Hoff and from this union came three daughters, Lacie, Danae, and Shana.

Daryn had a calm and quiet personality.  As a child he never cried and was content to just spend time alone even though he had a house full of siblings.  He was his older brother’s sidekick, doing everything he did.  He loved to watch the Red Skelton show as a child that earned him the nickname Fred from his father.  The nickname remained with him and we are pretty sure some people never knew his real name.  As he grew older, he developed a love for fast cars.  His first car, a 74 Chevy Nova, got him into his fair share of trouble!  He enjoyed cruising around town and racing whoever was willing.  This left his mother with many sleepless nights.  He started playing the drums at a young age and was playing gigs by time he was 14 years old.  Daryn was the best drummer and over the years he was a member of the Leo Bosch Band, Dakota Country Band, Hwy 6 Band, and most recently a recording artist/member of Cletus Maxx.  He was a talented small engine mechanic who worked at Four Seasons Repair and Marv’s Hardware.  He later opened Geiger’s Small Engine Repair, which he owned and operated until the time of his death.  Daryn had a kind and gentle soul and touched many people throughout his life.

He enjoyed gardening, camping with his family, and fishing.  From his catch, he would make pickled fish that he happily shared with all.  He made the best homemade apple pie and peach red eye.

Daryn’s greatest love, pride, and joy was his family, and his biggest excitement was becoming a grandpa to Bennett in 2019.  His eyes lit up whenever he was with Bennett.  He was happiest just spending time with his family, which was evident by his trademark smile whenever they were together.  As a single dad, he loved to cook for his girls and would often make them waffles with a full bar of toppings.  His walleye, tater tot casserole, and cucumber salad will also be remembered as his signature dishes.

Daryn is survived by his daughters, Lacie Geiger, Danae (Tyler) Doll, and Shana Geiger (Logan Ripple); his grandson, Bennett Doll; his parents, Don and Marlene Geiger; siblings, Doug (Patty) Geiger, Marla (Gary) Kitzan, Mark (Cherry) Geiger, Dustin (Kelly) Geiger; and sister-in-law, Sandi Geiger.

Daryn was preceded in death by his infant brother, Donald; niece, Courtney Smith; ex-wife, Kyla Geiger; nephew, Mark Geiger; brother, Matthew Geiger on October 29, 2021; his grandparents, Ralph and Katherine Geiger and J.P. and Rose Schlosser; and his beloved dog, Max.
