William (Bill) Leingang, 88, passed away on May 20, 2023, in Olympia, Washington.
A prayer service will take place on Friday, June 30, at 9:00 AM at Weigel Funeral Home and burial will be held at 10:00 AM at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
William Leingang was born June 12, 1934, to Anton and Rose (Froehlich) in St. Anthony, ND. He attended school in Mandan. He served in the North Dakota National Guard from 1953-1956. He had one daughter from his first marriage to Dorothy (Beckler) Berger. Bill was a carpet installer for much of his life, he owned Bill’s Carpet Corner and farmed in Lemmon, SD. Bill loved fishing which brought him to Riverdale, ND when he sold his business and moved off the farm. While in Riverdale he lived close to his sister & brother-in-law who were his fishing partners. Bill loved every moment he spent with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his humor, wittiness and his caring heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Greg) Jahraus, Mandan, two grandchildren who he adored, Christopher (Leah) Jahraus, Wheat Ridge, CO and Lindsey Jahraus, Madison, WI. Three great grandchildren who lit up his life, Damoni, Harlow and Beckett. His sisters Fran Braun, McMinnville, OR and Carol (Norm) Swindling, Bismarck, ND, his partner Maggie Rydman, Lacey, WA and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis, his parents, one sister Lillian Deckert, two brothers-in-law Pete Braun & Lester Deckert.
