Virginia C. “Ginny” Blazer, 80, Mandan, died November 3, 2015 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at First United Methodist Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Bruce Adams officiating. Inurnment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Virginia was born on December 31, 1934 to Fred H. and Gladys Agatha (Christofferson) Held in Rolette, ND. She was raised and educated in the Rock Lake, ND area and continued her education in Devils Lake, ND. She married Kenneth Blazer on June 5, 1952 in Devils Lake, ND. Ginny worked as a CNA and along with her husband Ken, was owner/operator of a grocery store in Wyndmere, ND.
Ginny loved to travel and experience new things, she made many excursions including going to Door County in Wisconsin and traveling across the Mackinaw Bridge she also made trips to Hawaii, Canada, Las Vegas and Arizona. Ginny loved to camp and fish, and she became a member of the Walleye Whopper Club by catching a fish that was
8 lbs. 3 oz. She also loved her pet dogs, reading, crocheting, big band music which she enjoyed dancing to and watching old movies especially the ones starring Judy Garland and Clark Gable.
Above all her family was most important to her. Ginny loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very close to all of them. She will be forever loved and missed.
Virginia will be deeply missed by her husband, Kenneth, Mandan, ND; children, Nancy (Pat) Hertz, Mandan, ND, Steve (Ronda), Bismarck, ND, Tom (Lyla), Mandan, ND, Lori (Steve) Draeger, Wyndmere, ND and Sue (special friend, Mike Hawkenson) Vollmuth, Mandan, ND; 12 grandchildren, Melanie (Rob) Ford, Deanne (Stew) Schatz, Mindy (Zac) Mathisen, Jeremy Blazer, Cory Blazer, Ryan (Keiko) Blazer, Cassandra (Al) Heinert, Jinnie (Josh) Stai, Kari (Shawn) Reichenbach, Andy (fiancée, Alyssia Andrus) Draeger, Derek Vollmuth and Dana (special friend, Jason Freidt) Vollmuth; 25 great-grandchildren and sister, Charlotte Kakela, Apache Junction, AZ
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Charmaine (Buck) Mitchell- (Ken) Jemtrud; brother, Fred H. (Peggy) Held, Jr and brother-in-law, Rudy Kakela.
