Vernon R. Tschider, 80, Mandan, ND entered eternal life on May 2, 2014 in the comfort of his home with his loving wife Delorse by his side.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at First Lutheran Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Lee Herberg officiating. Burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
Vernon was born on October 27, 1933 in Bismarck, ND to Joseph and Martha (Spillum) Tschider. He grew up on a farm near Breien, ND and was educated in the Solen Public School. He graduated from Wahpeton State School of Science and began his career with International Harvester in Bismarck, ND in 1955.
On April 15, 1956, in Mandan, Vernon married the love of his life, Delorse D. Davis and together started their 58 year marriage and life together. In 1960 Vernon and Delorse moved their family to Grand Forks, ND, where he became the Service Manager at International Harvester (IH). Vernon and family moved to Fargo, ND in 1974 where he was the Manager of IH there. In 1976 Vernon’s IH career took him to Minot, ND where he served as the Area Service Representative for northwest North Dakota. Vernon retired from IH in 1998 when he and Delorse returned to Mandan.
Vernon was a member of RSVP+ North Dakota and spent many hours volunteering. He enjoyed the wonders of nature, which included fishing and hunting. He also loved farming and working on old tractors. Old-time music and Westerns were a few of his favorite past-times. His fascination in life was with the old steam engine train. He was a patient and quiet man who cherished his wife, children and grandchildren.
Vernon will be deeply missed by his wife, Delorse; his children, Sherry (Scott) Linnerooth, Jayne (Roger) Hajicek, Linda (Charlie) Muus; grandchildren, Justin Linnerooth, Jaime (Keith) Linnerooth Foster, Kenneth Hajicek, Daniel Hajicek Brittany Hajicek, Eric Muus and Alexis Muus; brothers, Donovan (Marie) Tschider, Kenneth (Genevieve) Tschider and Percy (Esther) Tschider along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Tschider.
