Vera E. Helferich, 88, Bismarck, died November 22, 2014 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Deanna Reikow officiating. Inurnment will be at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 9:00 am. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Vera was born on June 1, 1926 to Fred and Elsie (Nicodemus) Bolke in Hebron, ND. She was raised and educated in Hebron graduating from Hebron High School. Vera married Harold Helferich on August 21, 1946 in Hebron, ND.
Vera and Harold spent many years travelling the world in an RV, often bringing along a few of the grandchildren. A loving grandmother and great grandmother, Vera saved her biggest smiles for the frequent visits from her 14 great grandchildren.
She was a very involved member in the community including, Eastern Star, P.E.O, and provided ongoing support to the Mandan Rural Fire Department throughout her life. Vera was very competitive and enjoyed her weekly bridge games. She was a wonderful and talented seamstress and often passed the fruits of her labor to family.
Vera will be deeply missed by her family, Diane (John) Bullinger, Mandan, ND, Susan Riedinger, Bismarck, ND, Donna (Arnold) Hatzenbuhler, Mililani, HI, and Jim (Lynn) Helferich, Mandan, ND; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and sister, Virginia Bruun, Bemidji, MN. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents, Fred and Elsie Bolke; grandson, Jeremiah Hatzenbuhler; sister, Ada and brothers, Roy, Donald and Kenneth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to the First Presbyterian Church of Mandan (Kitchen Fund).
