Ulrich Mike Michaelis (Tatt2), of Bismarck passed away at his home, March 29, 2018. Tatt was born November 14, 1942 to Jurgen and Gertrude (Hochenleitner) Michaelis in Bavaria, Germany.
While growing up his father’s employment took him to many continents and countries including Europe, South America, North America, Germany, Venezuela, Brazil, Mexico and the United States. In Mexico while in college he took up fencing and championed in the art. In California he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he continued his travels.
Later on in 1985 he settled in the Mandan-Bismarck area. As an avid motorcyclist he joined the Dakota Riders Motorcycles Club and ABATE of ND.
He was an artist and enjoyed tooling in leather, making many awesome products for folks. He was fluent in at least five languages and very much the conversationalist. The stories he told of his adventures were none but fascinating.
Tatt will be greatly missed by his family; Dakota Rider brothers and sister bikers and acquaintances; by his special friends, JoAnna Zacher and her daughters Samantha and Shelby, and son, Stacey.
He is survived by his mother, Gertrude; his son, Alaric (Lana) Michaelis, their daughters, Alyssa and Katherine; Susan Mooney their daughter, Monica Rose; Kim Quenette their son, Dylan Hoffman; daughter, Sireena (Adam) Anderson and their son, Titan.
Tatt is preceded in death by his father, Jurgen. E
