Anton "Tony" F. Pfleger, 85, Mandan, passed away peacefully in his sleep October 19, 2016 at his residence in Mandan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Men of the Moose Ritual at 6:30 pm followed by a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Tony was born on September 13, 1931 to Peter and Frances (Erhardt) Pfleger in Center, ND. He was raised and educated in the Center area. Tony married Helen Barnhardt on November 16, 1953 in Center, making that the day very special every year for Helen with many beautiful anniversary surprise gifts. Tony was employed for 30 years as a carpenter and welder at the Gasification Plants, retiring at the age of 62. He owned and operated Tony's Home Repair for 15 years, helping many of the local Mandan senior ladies with their homes and yards, as well as helping his brothers- in- law with many projects in their homes and on the Barnhardt family farm along with hours of work with his sons-in-law and their homes. He was a member of the Local 1091 Carpenters Union, receiving his 45th year pin just last winter. Tony was a life time member of the Mandan Moose Club, where Helen would find him visiting with all the guys, while supper was ready. Tony was an avid Prairie Knights visitor where he had some Lucky Fingers!!
Tony will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen; 5 daughters, LouAnn (Michael) Nider, Mandan, ND, Carol (Darrell) Anderson, Bismarck, ND, Sandra (Mark) Ohlhauser, Bismarck, ND, Sherry (Rodney) Marentette, Austin, TX and Kari Ann (Chris) Warner, Mandan, ND; 7 grandchildren, Alexis (Jon) Rassett, Anthony Nider, Calvin (Katie) Anderson, Britta Anderson, Jennifer McAddy, Sophia Warner and Saige Warner and 1 great-grandchild, Jacob Rassett; sisters-in-law, Sandi Pfliger, Las Vegas, NV and Margaret Pfliger, Bismarck, ND along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends also a special caregiver, Karen Bjerke and CHI St. Alexius Kidney Dialysis Staff.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; sisters, Eleanor Siegel and Angeline Bonogogsky; brothers, Peter Pfliger and Matt Pfliger and son-in-law, Mike McAddy.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association or the Kidney Foundation.
