Theresa Schaner

Theresa Schaner, 99, of Mandan, died December 28, 2024, at Lakewood Landing in Mandan. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, with Fr. Keith Streifel celebrating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Cremation has taken place, and the family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. 

Theresa was born November 8, 1925, in Odense, ND, to John and Rose (Wetsch) Schaner. She left the farm at the age of 16 to work at a retail store in Mandan. She later moved to Linton to run a store called Russ Dons. Years later, Theresa bought the store and continued to run it until she moved to Mandan in 2000. Still wanting to stay busy, Theresa worked at Five Nations Gift Shop in Mandan and also for Mandan High School taking tickets during student activities. Theresa was a member of the Precious Blood Society and a past president of the Kiwanis in Linton. She also enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends. 

Theresa is survived by one brother, Frank Schaner of California as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, infant Katheryn, Magdalen (Mike) Schantz, and Felicia (Henry) Schantz; two brothers, infant Michael and Daniel (Bev) Schaner; and sister-in-law, Marge Schaner.
