Theresa was born October 18, 1928 in Haynes, ND to Sebastian and Mary (Riehl) Roll. After graduating from Carson High School in 1948, Theresa married the love of her life, John Fergel, on her birthday so John wouldn’t forget the date. They were happily married until his passing in 2007. Theresa’s lifelong goal was fulfilled by raising her nine children with John. They lived on a Hereford cattle ranch near Shields, ND. In 1972, Theresa and John became the owners of the Wishing Well Supper Club, Selfridge, and subsequently moved to Mandan in 1977.
As a loving and gentle woman, Theresa will be remembered for her friendly disposition, a ready smile, and keen sense of humor. Family and her faith were always at the center of her life. Theresa showed her devotion to family by attending graduations, weddings, and special events. She loved sending birthday cards to family members always including a stick of gum and a five-dollar bill for each grandchild. She enjoyed sewing clothing for her little sister and later for her own children and alterations for many. Some of life’s simple pleasures for her included cooking for her family, reading stories (“the ant book”), her famous grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, and plenty of orange flavored push-ups for the grandchildren. The pot of coffee was always on and a full cookie jar for anyone who happened to stop by. As a very spiritual, hard working woman, her hands were rarely idle.
Left with loving memories are her children, Karen, Bismarck, Dinah (Gary) Roberson, Center, Hugo (Alice), Wichita, Leon, New Salem, Arleen (Todd) Gleason, Denver, Felice (Deb Keehan), Ann Arbor, Michael J, Ellendale, Linda (Robert) Morris, Mandan, and Mary (Jim) Mildenberger, Sioux Falls; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; one brother, Philip (Louise) Roll, Las Vegas; one sister, Irene (Duane) Hellman, Bismarck; and two sister-in-law’s, Pauline Roll and Dorothy Fergel.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son-in-law, Jerry Blotske; brother, Joe Roll; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Betty Roll; along with many other family members and friends.
