Terry Stewart

Terrence D. “Terry” Stewart, 88, of Mandan, was called home February 3, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. He passed peacefully following a year long battle with complications from a stroke. 

 Terry will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Keith Streifel as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. 

 Terry was born in Reseburg, Wisconsin, on July 3, 1936, to Mildred and Dale Stewart. He attended school in Stanley, Wisconsin, until leaving to drive livestock for his uncle. His path sent him in a new direction when he enlisted in the Army and served in Korea. Following his service, he reconnected with childhood friends and fell in love with Mary (Valk) Stewart. They were married June 18, 1960, in Stanley, Wisconsin. They welcomed three children in Wisconsin while he finished training as a Barber. In 1968, they decided to move to North Dakota to join his family in the dairy business. They welcomed their fourth child in Mandan. 

 Terry built a busy life playing softball, volleyball, and supporting his family’s many activities. He loved horses, dogs, playing ball and an occasional trip to the casino. He could be found most days mowing his lawn and doing yardwork south of Mandan. His home with Mary and the kids was his pride and joy.

 Terry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary; daughters, Theresa Stewart and Deanne (Jim) Wangler; sons, Dale (Angela) Stewart and Nathan (Marian) Stewart; daughter-in-law, Deb Stewart; 10 amazing grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jim (Sandy) Stewart; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins; and wonderful family friends, Gene and Lyla Himmelspach and family.

 Terry was preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters who passed in infancy.
