Terrel J. Tausend, 61, Mandan, ND passed away December 13, 2016, at Sanford Health in Bismarck after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Deacon Bob Wingenbach officiating. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery on Monday, December 19, 2016 at 12:00 pm with Military Honors provided by the Mandan VFW Post #707 and the American Legion Post #40.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 16, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Terrel was born July 12, 1955 to Wilmont and Althea (Suchy) Tausend in Mandan, ND. Terrel was raised and educated in Mandan and entered the US Army in 1973 as a mechanic. Terrel served from 1973-1976 and was honorably discharged. Terrel worked as a drywall finisher and took great pride in the work he did. Terrel, accompanied by his wife Connie, had the opportunity to travel on the Honor Flight for veterans to Washington DC in May of this year; he described this as one of the most privileged experiences of his life.
Terrel was a friendly and witty individual with a great sense of humor. He was a free spirit who loved to ride his motorcycle with his wife Connie. They would cruise around wherever the wind or garage sale would take them. He enjoyed backyard bonfires, a cold beer, and his famous Saturday night steak nights with green beans from his garden.
Terrel will be deeply missed by his wife Connie, Mandan, ND; mother Althea Tausend Kessel, Mandan, ND; daughters, Cassandra Riedinger, Bismarck, ND, Kelly (Dustin) Geiger, Mandan, ND, La Shawna Kaiser, Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Brooklynn, Braxton, Logan, and Eli; brothers, Wes (Linda) Tausend, Bismarck, ND; Monte (Linnie) Tausend, Lincoln, ND and mother-in-law Gloria Kaiser, Mandan, ND. Terrel is also survived by Char Gartner; Colleen Nies; Maxine Kaiser; Carol (Wes) Meidinger; Cheryl (Karl) Van Orman; Chuck Kaiser, Don (Trina) Kaiser; Randy (Wendy) Kaiser, many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his good friend Kenny Bonogofsky.
Terrel was preceded in death by his father; sister Laureen (Bob) Morrisey; father-in-law Albert Kaiser; brothers-in-law Richard Kaiser and Albert Kaiser Jr. and his good friend Mikey Phelps.
