Teresa Zachmeier

Teresa Zachmeier, 97, Mandan, passed away April 23, 2017 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, April 28, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a CDA Rosary at 7:00 pm followed by a Parish Vigil. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Teresa was born on January 12, 1920 on a farm near Linton, ND to Ferdinand and Magdalena (Richter) Mosset the 6th of 10 children. The family moved to a farm in Selfridge, ND. She was educated at a country school through the 8th grade. She left home at the age of 17 to work in Bismarck. Teresa married Ralph A. Berger on March 27, 1941 and moved to a farm northwest of Mandan. Ralph A. and Teresa had 2 children, Janis and Ralph Jr.
Ralph A. died on September 16, 1960 after which Teresa and her children moved to Mandan. Teresa became very active in her community, she worked at Collins Department Store, she did a lot of charity work including "Meals on Wheels", was an active member of Catholic Daughters and the Knights of Columbus Ladies. On June 6, 1966 Teresa married Francis Zachmeier, they moved to a farm 4 miles north of Mandan. Francis died November 5, 1987.
Teresa enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, raising a big vegetable garden, collecting tea pots, and she really enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in Wrestling. Teresa became an avid High School and College Wrestling Fan. Teresa was the 1991 Mandan High School Wrestling Fan of the Year. In May of 1992, Teresa purchased a condominium in Bismarck which she lived until she moved to Edgewood Vista in 2010 and then entered Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in January of 2016.
Teresa will be deeply missed by son, Ralph (Lorraine) Berger, Jr., Prescott, WI; step-daughter, Patricia Mortenson, Williston, ND; daughter-in-law, Mickie Miller, Billings, MT; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Magdalena Kraft along with several nieces and nephews.
Teresa was preceded in death by her parents, Ferdinand and Magdalena; first husband, Ralph Berger, Sr.; second husband, Francis Zachmeier; daughter, Janis Zachmeier, son-in-law Albert Zachmeier, and stepson, Kenneth Zachmeier; brothers, Joseph and John Mosset; sisters, Kathrine Mosset, Mary Mosset, Martina Waliser, Angeline Schneider, Caroline Fleck and Regina Berger.
