Stephena Wuitschick, 94, Bismarck, passed away May 7, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Marvin Klemmer as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Women of the Mandan Moose Ritual at 6:30 pm, and Catholic Daughters Rosary at 7:00 pm followed by a Parish Vigil. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Stephena was born in Strasburg, ND on February 6, 1922 to Peter and Pauline (Jochim) Kraft. Stephena married the love of her life Oscar Wuitschick on November 7, 1939 in Selfridge.
Stephena loved to play pinochle. Each month she and her 7 buddies met to play bunco and a game of 8-handed pinochle. She also played pinochle at the Mandan Moose and Mandan Eagle clubs. She was a Champion Wii Bowler at the Golden Age Services and her high score was 287. Camping and fishing were a favorite pastime for Stephena and Oscar for many years. Her faith was important to her; it was evident, as she was a member of Selfridge Christian Mothers and Mandan Catholic Daughters. Stephena belonged to the Mandan Eagles and Women of the Moose Mandan Chapter; as well as, the Selfridge Homemakers Club and Selfridge Betterment Club. She also would keep the Selfridge Journal and McLaughlin Messenger posted as to the social events and happenings in Selfridge. She served as treasurer for the Selfridge School and was the auditor for the city. Community service was important to Stephena; she was active for 29 years at the Mandan Golden Age Services maintaining membership for the club; recycling greeting cards, or whatever help was needed. She was proud of her 34 years of service to the RSVP Volunteer Program and was featured on KFYR-TV news on the October 16, 2015 news cast.
Stephena will be deeply missed by her 4 daughters: Barbara (David) Jurick, Lebanon, OR, Elsie Wuitschick, Silver Lake, MN, Elizabeth (Gary) Mattern, Baker City, OR and Donna (Samuel) Seaboy, Mandan, ND; 4 sons, Charles (Carol), Central City, SD, Timothy (Judi), Mandan, ND; Edward (Brigeta), Bismarck, ND, and Gary (Wanda), Harvey, ND; 19 grandchildren, 37 great- grandchildren and 7 great-great –grandchildren; 5 brothers, Jack (Judy) Kraft, Dillworth, MN, Joe Kraft, Minot, ND, John Kraft, Central City, SD, Pete (Ann) Kraft, Selfridge, ND and Matt (Jeanie) Kraft, Bismarck, ND and daughter-in-law, Julie Wuitschick, Buffalo, WY.
Stephena was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar who died on February 15, 1990; her parents; one son, Matthew; one grandson, Jody Wuitschick; her sisters, Walburg (Harlan) Kjos and Theresa (Joseph) Mosset and sister-in-law Amelia Kraft.
