Rose and Xavier made their home in Flasher, ND where they raised their 11 children. Rose cooked for St. Lawrence School and the Flasher school system as head cook for 37 years. Many of her grandchildren had the opportunity to go to work with her and share lunch, such as hand patted hamburgers and homemade buns. She enjoyed catering many events such as weddings, anniversary parties and appreciation dinners. Her love of old time music often found her coming out of the kitchen in her apron to find one of her kids to dance. She was known by many at Edgewood Vista as “the one who loves to dance” Her family enjoyed her homemade soups, her specialty German dishes and her homemade popcorn balls and of course her raised donuts, sugar kuchen and cream kuchen. Rose was a gracious and giving woman and her hospitality and loving nature was enjoyed by many. She was a talented quilter and she made quilts for every member of her family and also for fundraiser raffles. She was known to always have her rosary prayer beads in one pocket and a deck of cards in the other. Kings corner was her game of choice the last few years. Rose was very civic minded and would do anything to help out her community and church, but family was foremost in her life, her kind and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
