Robert “Bob” Kuntz, 76, Bismarck, formerly of Fargo, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Sanford Health in Bismarck. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Mandan with Fr. Fred Harvey presiding. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veteran’s Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 7 from 5-7 PM with a parish rosary/vigil at 7 PM at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan.

Robert James Kuntz was born on October 7, 1948 to John and Lorraine (Reilly) Kuntz in Mandan, ND.

Bob attended grade school at St. Joseph’s in Mandan and Mandan High School. He worked at M&H in Mandan up until he was drafted into the Army and deployed to Germany before spending about a year in Vietnam. Upon his return from Vietnam, he worked for Viking homes. He then went on to sell insurance for Nodak Mutual and National Guardian before working at 3M in Bismarck. In 1984 Bob and family moved to Ralston, NE where he held jobs in maintenance. In 1990 the family moved to Fargo, ND where Bob again held maintenance jobs before finally retiring with ND Housing Authority as a housing inspector for HUD homes. He moved to Bismarck in the fall of 2023.

Bob was united in marriage to Deborah Frohlich on June 3, 1972 with whom he had three children, Craig, Curtis and Keith. He was a very avid outdoorsman who loved to go hunting and fishing and just being in the outdoors, which he passed on to his three boys. Bob was an avid Western movie watcher and probably had every Western ever made on DVD. He also loved to read books and go to the gym as well as being an avid bird watcher. He was very strong in his faith and active in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church as an usher, Eucharistic minister & bringing communion to the homebound.

Most summers you could find Bob at his camper up in Devils Lake where they had a camping spot for many years. He enjoyed having family there most weekends and being able to spend time doing what he loved. We like to joke that Bob was a klutz and always seemed to be injured. He spent a lot of time injured and being in casts, and on crutches, but would keep on going. Bob was not much of a traveler, but in 2019 he and Deb took a bucket list trip to Alaska to celebrate 50 years of marriage.

He enjoyed spending time and being around his immediate family, grandkids and great grandkids. He liked to have them sit on his lap while watching movies, TV or reading books to them. He made a lasting impression on them. His smile and sparkle in his eyes will be missed.

Bob is survived by his children: Craig (Stephanie) Kuntz, Bismarck ND, Curtis (Alissa) Kuntz, West Fargo, ND and Keith Kuntz, Fargo, ND; Grandchildren: Evan (Shannon) Kuntz, West Fargo, ND and Kaden Kuntz, Bismarck, ND; Great-grandchildren: Grayson, Charli, Vivienne Kuntz, West Fargo, ND; brothers and sisters: Larry (Bonnie) Kuntz, Lincoln, ND, Stan (Nadeth) Kuntz, Granite Falls, WA, Agnes (Ron) Vogel, Kathy (Mike) Schwartzbauer, Clarence (Kim) Kuntz both of Mandan, ND.

Bob was proceeded in death by his wife Deb Kuntz, parents Lorraine Kuntz, John and Margaret Kuntz.
