Richard C. Dube, 84, Mandan, passed away September 6, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius Health in Bismarck.
Services will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 10, 2015 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Mark Drews officiating. Burial held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Mandan VFW Post #707 and American Legion Post #40.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, September 9, 2016 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Richard was born on March 2, 1932 to Cal and Beatrice (Mattison) Dube in Moorhead, MN. He was raised and educated in northwest Minnesota. Richard entered the United States Navy and was a Aviation Machinist, he assigned flight crews in air sea rescue missions from 1951-1954 and was a proud Korean War Veteran. Richard married Sharon Lovstad on March 9, 1974 in Sidney, MT, Sharon passed away on January 2, 1996.
Richard worked for MDU in the Power Plants for 38 years as an electrician. He was promoted to Supervisor in 1976 and was Plant Manager at the Beulah Steam Plant, Electrical Supervisor at Coyote Station and Maintenance Supervisor at R.M. Heskept Station. Richard was a history buff especially loving North Dakota History; he enjoyed metal detecting and was an avid rock hound. Richard was a wonderful cook, either grilling or in the kitchen, everyone raved about his prime rib which was his specialty. He also enjoyed the outdoors, ice fishing with his brother, Robert.
Richard will be deeply missed by his daughters, Barbara (John) Greenlees, Denver, CO, Elizabeth Dube, Percy, AK, Vickie (Jeff) Junso, Belgrade, MT, Rebecca (Steve) Morgan, Jacksonville, FL, Peggy Sewell, Mandan, ND, Cynthia Dube, Jacksonville, FL and Paula Dube (special friend, Jamie Veith), Bismarck, ND; 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sister, Judy (Dan) Johnson, Duluth, MN and brothers, Robert Dube, Williston, ND and Dennis (Paulette), Nashwauk, MN.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon and daughters, Leslie Schlecht and Lisa Kahler.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to Messiah Lutheran Church, 1020 Boundary Rd NW, Mandan or Central Dakota Humane Society, 2104 37th St., Mandan.
