Peggy A. Emil, 64, Mandan formerly of Almont, died April 8, 2015 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND with Rev. William Dodds officiating. Inurnment will be at the Sims Cemetery in Almont at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 pm on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home on Saturday.
Peggy was born on May 4, 1950 to Eugene and Bernice (Anderson) Thorson in Almont, ND. She was raised and educated in Almont and worked for the Mandan School System for 17 years as a bus driver. Peggy married Ralph Berger in 1969; they lived and raised their family in Mandan. Peggy later married Jim Emil on March 27, 1986 in Reno, NV. Peggy was a very outgoing and wonderful lady; she loved her bus kids like they were her own. She was generous with her time and would help people with whatever she could do. Family was always at the top of her list. She loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren; she also loved to do baking, gardening and traveling. She and Jim enjoyed trips to Mexico and hunting fishing and camping in their earlier years. Peggy also enjoyed trips to Deadwood and Bozeman with her sister and mother.
Peggy will be deeply missed by Jim Emil of Mandan, ND; daughter, Brenda (Kori) Schantz, Underwood, ND and Deborah (Jeff Grant), Bismarck, ND; son, David (Wendy Walby), Mandan, ND; step-daughters, Paula (Ken) Bitz, Linton, ND and Peggy (Linn) Thomas, Mandan, ND; step-sons, Sheldon Emil, Fargo, ND and Jim Jr. (Cory) Emil, Andover, MN; her mother, Bernice Thorson, New Salem, ND; grandchildren, Cainen Fredricks, Blake Wetzel, Carter Berger, Cloey Berger, Emily Schantz, Jack Shaffer and Charli Berger; sisters, Sharon (Gordon) Rittenbach, Turtle Lake, ND and Carolyn Thorson, Ark City, Ks; brothers, Dale Thorson and Casey (Emma) Thorson both of Newcastle Wy.
Peggy was preceded in death by her father, Eugene and first husband, Ralph Berger.
