Memorial service for Paul Standingcrow, 51 of Mandan, will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fort Yates with interment at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.
Paul died at his home in Mandan.
Paul Adrian Standingcrow was born the son of Judy Standingcrow in Fort Yates, Standing Rock. He attended elementary school in Fort Yates. He moved to Pierre, So. Dak. where he attended Pierre Indian Learning Center where he graduated 8th grade. Paul joined the Job Corps of Boxelder to round out his education.
He had an adventurous spirit that led him to work in different areas across the United States, including Albuquerque, Denver, Minneapolis and Oklahoma to name a few. His travels eventually brought him back to North Dakota and he attended United Tribes in Bismarck. He most recently worked at the Baymont, serving as one of their maintenance men.
Paul was rooted in his Sioux ancestry and living the Native American way. He attended sweats and frequented Pow Wows as well as singing Indian.
He will be remembered most for his bold personality and telling people how he felt about any given situation honestly.
Paul will be missed by his daughter Tiana Rose Provancial of Lockport, New York; mother Judy Standingcrow of Fargo; siblings: Robert Halfe of Bismarck, Lawrence “LJ” St. John, Amy Jo St. John, and older brother, Gary Standingcrow; niece and nephews all of Fargo.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Lawrence Standingcrow and Constance Rae Blackcloud; sister, Sharon Lee “Dolly” Halfe; brothers: Brian Lewis Halfe and Michael Charles St. John.
