Patty was born on July 12, 1941 in Mandan, to Martin D and Katherine (Renner) Bender. She graduated from Mandan High in 1959. On June 23, 1962 she married her high school sweetheart, Anton J. Kautzman. Together they raised three children and shared nearly 56 years of marriage. Patty engaged in several activities; she was a member of TOPS for 40 years, she enjoyed dancing with her husband and traveling to Fargo and Omaha to visit grandchildren; but, her greatest joy was being at home. Patty enjoyed her pet parakeets, did beautiful embroidery, loved crossword, Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles, and most of all enjoyed cooking. Patty prepared all her food from scratch. Patty not only enjoyed cooking at home; it was her life work, her hobby, and her passion. This was evident through her many years cooking for the Mandan Moose Lodge, and her time spent serving meals at the Mandan Public Schools. She was pleased that, for many years, she was able to cook the Thanksgiving meal at First Lutheran Church. During her life she also worked at Woolworth, Super Value Warehouse, waitress at Seven Seas and Bismarck Country Club, and did baking, serving and cleanup at Liberty Heights.
Patty will be deeply missed by her husband, Tony, of Mandan; daughters, Shelley (David) Horne, Fargo, Kathleen (Mark) Peightal, Omaha; son, Ross (Sandy), Omaha; six grandchildren, Torina Horne, Kara and Brandon Peightal, Kyle Kautzman, Justin and Travis Schwartz; sister, Sherry Bender, St. Anthony; brothers, Chuck (Gladne) Yucaipa, CA, Leslie, “Rick”, Maple Grove, MN, Dennis (Marlene) Bender, Mandan; sister-in-law, Joann Bender, Mandan.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jim and sister-in-law, BJ Bender.
