Mildred Braun

Mildred (Micki) R. Braun, 86, New Salem, formally of Carson, passed away November 9, 2017 in a New Salem Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be held at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 13, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 pm at the New Salem Care Center, followed by a visitation from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Micki Golde was born March 19, 1931 to Ernest and Martha (Walde) Golde in New Salem, ND.  She received her primary education in a rural school and graduated from Mandan High School. On October 5, 1948 Micki was united in marriage to Joe M. Braun at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan, North Dakota.  Joe’s work took them to various cities from North Dakota to Denver, Colorado, returning to North Dakota in 1954.  She was active in managing Braun’s café and worked in their business, Braun Electric, as secretary and book keeper until 2004.  Micki was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Carson, ND where she belonged to the St. Theresa’s Alter Society.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary; involved in Grant County Cancer Society and the Grant County Red Cross, as well as serving on the Grant County Election Board for 35 years.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and enjoyed family gatherings at their home.  Her family was her life.

Micki will be deeply missed by her daughter, Sandy (Jim) Dressler, Las Vegas, NV; sons, Ron (Bernadette), Northwood, ND, Wayne (Becci) and Gary (Cheryl) both of New Salem, ND; 10 grandchildren, Carrie, Cammie, Bobbie Jo, Aaron, Darin, Bonnie, Myles, Crystal, Jesse, and Kristin; 35 great-grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Kaelberer, New Salem, ND; sisters-in-law, Ann Olson, Mandan, ND, LaVina (Fran) Forester, and Lorrene Brown, both of Bismarck ND; and brother-in-law, Matt Brown, Glendive, MT.

Micki is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; sister, Elsie (Golde) Tellinghusen; and great-grandson, Jamison Braun.
