Mary Kilen

Mary A. Kilen, 72, Mandan, passed away August 26, 2017 at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND with Deacon Lance Gartner officiating. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND.

Mary was born March 26, 1945 to Lawrence and Goldie (Stiler) Renner in Mandan, ND.  She was raised and educated in Almont.  Mary married Tharen Kilen on August 17, 1966 in Almont, ND.

Mary enjoyed the many friends she made at work. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Mary was talented at crochet and made many afghans for family and friends. She loved to garden and would can  her bounty in large quantities and varieties.  Mary also loved to fish on the Missouri River.  She was very active in the community and was the President of Legion Auxiliary.

Mary will be deeply missed by her husband, Tharen; daughter, Dawn Schumaier, Mandan; son, Jim Kilen, Mandan; son-in-law, Harold Stratton, Linton; sister, Julie (Brad) Timpe, Bismarck, brother, Daniel (Donna) Renner, Bismarck; brother-in-law, Dean Bachler; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cindy Stratton (2014); sister, Kathy Bachler; brothers, Larry and Tommy.
