Mary June (Hulm) Dinneen, 87, Mandan, went home to the Lord Jesus Christ on December 18, 2023, after a struggle with brain cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM on Friday, December 22, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with Fr. Joshua Waltz celebrating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Parish Vigil/Rosary at 7 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Mary was born October 11, 1936, near New England, ND, the 6th child of Joseph and Magdalena (Stagl) Blasy. She was raised on the family farm 7 miles northeast of New England. Mary graduated from St. Mary’s High School in New England and started working at a doctor’s office. She met Roy R. Hulm Jr. through their interest in archery and they were married on January 11, 1959. They lived and raised a family of 8 children in Bismarck, ND. They had 5 sons, Jody (Dallas, TX), Terry (Bismarck, ND), Lonny (New Salem, ND), Randy (West Fargo, ND), and Ricky (Minot, ND); daughter, Mary Jo Hofferber (Mandan, ND); along with stepdaughters, Royann Beckman (Hannover, ND) and Tracey Hulm (Minot, ND) from Roy’s first marriage. Mary’s first husband, Roy, passed away on February 28, 1983. She worked different jobs including Walmart and cleaning homes while raising her family. Fifteen years later, Mary started dating an old neighborhood friend, Daniel Dinneen from Mandan, ND. They were married on December 4, 1999, which added additional stepchildren to her family including Tricia (Larry) Niswanger (Minneapolis, MN), Steve (Eva) (San Jose, CA), Bryan (Gold Beach, OR), John (Beth) (Bismarck, ND), and Joe (Janelle) (Parker, CO). Mary and Dan made their home in Mandan, ND. They spent their retirement traveling, visiting family, wintering in Mesa, AZ, and watching their family grow.
Mary had the deepest and most profound love of our Lord Jesus Christ. She was a faithful servant and loved attending Mass. She was a faithful longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mandan, ND.
Mary was involved in many activities inside and outside her home. She developed lifelong friendships with the coffee ladies of West Ave. B and through community activities such as archery, Capital City Gun Club, Eagles Club, and other civic organizations. She loved fishing, camping, traveling, and gardening. Mary loved hosting holiday gatherings and having gatherings to have her family together. She was well known for her cooking and baking.
Mary was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Roy Hulm Jr. and Daniel Dinneen; her parents; sons, Jody and Lonny Hulm; 1 great granddaughter, Maggie Hulm; brothers, Albert Blasy, Donald Blasy, Martin Blasy, and Joseph Blasy; sisters, Laurina Meservey and LaVerne Stecher; and stepson, John Dinneen.
Mary is survived by her sons, Terry (Karen) Hulm, Bismarck, Randy (Kim) Hulm, West Fargo, and Ricky Hulm, Minot; daughter, Mary Jo (Rick) Hofferber, Mandan; daughter-in-law, Sherri (Lonny), New Salem; stepdaughters, Royann (Marvin) Beckman, Hannover and Tracey Hulm, Minot; 23 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Eileen Blasy, Fort Collins, CO and Juliana Ehli, Bismarck; and two special friends, Amy and Roberta.
