Mary K. Bonogofsky was born on March 2, 1920 to Dennis and Maria A. (Grosz) Bonogofsky in Brisbane, ND. As a young girl Mary developed a strong work ethic working on her dad’s farm. She worked hard on the farm, even working as a hired hand for Grandpa Deichert while men were off in the military. She married Pete Deichert on June 26, 1944 in Raleigh, ND after he returned from military service in WWII. Mary was always available to help Pete in his business, Deichert Chevrolet.
Generous with her time and talents, Mary was known around Flasher for all the activities she assisted with. Driving people from Flasher to doctor appointments or spending hours baking, which she shared generously with the community of Flasher. She always wanted fresh flowers for St. Lawrence Church and the Flasher Senior Center, which she provided from her own flower garden. Mary was outgoing and enjoyed serving people, putting the needs of others before her own. Her husband, Peter, passed away on March 25, 2001. She continued to reside in Flasher until three years ago when she moved to Marillac Manor in Bismarck. With a good joke when others needed a laugh, she had a wonderful sense of humor. Her strong and gentle way will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
