Margaret Stein

May 14, 1921 — February 28, 2017

Margaret "Maudie" Stein, 95, Mandan, passed away February 28, 2017 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Catholic Daughter's Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Margaret was born on May 14, 1921 to Alosius and Monica (Siegel) Bauer in Harmon, ND. Margaret was affectionately known as Maudie which was reinforced on her license plate. Maudie was raised and educated in the Harmon area. Margaret married Wacek Stein on July 3, 1940 at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Crown Butte, ND. Maudie and Wacek worked together in the family's trucking business, she provided assistance by doing the office work for the business. Margaret enjoyed providing volunteer services at CHI St. Alexius for over 25 years. Maudie was a talented seamstress and created many bridesmaid dresses for family and friends. Maudie also enjoyed quilting and visiting with her family and friends. Margaret took care of her husband, Wacek for many years after his stroke. Maudie was a member of the St. Joseph Parish and the Catholic Daughters.

Margaret will be deeply missed by her daughter, Sharon (Wayne) Miller, Dane, WI; son, Jerry Stein, Menoken, ND; 6 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Alosius and Monica; her husband, Wacek; great-granddaughter, Ariana Miller; sisters, Katie, Rose, Clementine along with 2 infant sisters; brothers, Ralph and Joe.
