Margaret Schantz, 92, Mandan, died August 25, 2014 at her residence in Mandan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 28, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 27, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Margaret was born on July 19, 1922 to John and Theresa (Federer) Schlosser in Mandan, ND. Margaret was raised and lived in the east end of Mandan her entire life. She was baptized at St. Joe’s and attended grade school there also. Margaret married Frank Schantz on November 27, 1940 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where they were lifelong members.
Margaret was surprised and saddened she outlived her husband, Frank, her son, Gary and her two sisters, Rose and Magdelin. She was comforted by the fact that they met her at heaven’s door and welcomed her with open arms.
Margaret is survived by her daughter-in-law, Susan (Gerald) Tschider, Bismarck; grandchildren, Stacy Tschider, Jay Tschider and Susan Martin; great-grandchildren, Kirstie Tschider, Jake Tschider, Samuel Tschider, Ashley Williams, Ryan Martin and Cassie Martin; great-great grandchildren, Melissa Williams and Brock Williams; sister-in-law, Jean Paul and special friend and caregiver, Mary Ellen Rebenitsch.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years; Frank who died in 2007; son Gary who died in 1962; sisters, Magdelin Delebeo and Rose Casey.
In lieu of flowers Margaret requests you do random acts of kindness in her memory.
