Margaret “Maggie” (Bitz) Marquart, 98, Bismarck, passed away December 22, 2013 at St. Gabriel’s Care Center in Bismarck surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Church of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bismarck, ND. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Maggie was born on June 14, 1915 in Napoleon to John and Magdalena (Wald) Bitz. She was raised and educated in Napoleon. She married Pete Marquart on November 21, 1938 in Napoleon. Maggie and Pete farmed in the Napoleon area until they moved to Bismarck in 1967. Maggie had a strong work ethic and helped Pete with all aspects of farm life. Family was central in their life and they raised their children to have the same determination and work ethics as they did. Maggie loved family gatherings and enjoyed her family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Margaret will be deeply missed by daughters, Virginia Fettig, Napoleon, Florence (Joe) Hilzendeger, Mandan, Lil Steiner, Bismarck and Mary Jo (Jacob) Neigum, Bismarck; sons, Robert, Bismarck, John (Theresa), McKenzie, Steve (Mary), West Fargo and Vince (Kris), Scottsdale, AZ; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy Bitz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete in 1993; her parents; one infant son, James; one daughter, Angeline; sons-in-law, Tim Steiner and Baltzer Fettig; sisters, Regina Rohrich and Agatha Bitz and brothers, Joe, Adam, Roy, Valentine, Al and John.
