Lyla Joyce

Lyla M. Joyce, 69, Bismarck, passed away December 27, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius Health.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, Bismarck, ND with Rev. John Guthrie as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary and Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm.  Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Lyla M. Joyce was born in Mandan, ND to Ray and Margaret Ost on October 8, 1948.  She was the 6th of 7 kids. She graduated from Mandan High School in 1967.  When she joined the workforce she started as a waitress at local café’s, finding her way to management for Hardee’s before settling in the credit reporting and collection industry for 30 years.  She ended her working career with the Mandan Eagles as their general manager.

She met the love of her life; Bob, on New Year’s Eve, 1970.  They were married on June 5, 1971 and shared 37 memorable years together.

Lyla enjoyed good times with friends and family, taking pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren.  She was a selfless individual often putting others needs before her own.

Lyla will be deeply missed by her son, Donny; stepson, Jim (Donna); stepdaughter, Kelly (Mike) Rixen; 5 grandchildren, Jonathan and Rachel Rixen, Jayme and Alyssa Joyce, and Trey Ehli; sisters, Phyllis Gustin, Judy (Joe) Greff, Harriet (Leonard) Gustin, and Gladys Lembke; special friend, Delvin; great-grandson, Bentley; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Margaret Ost; her husband, Robert; sister, Evelyn Feller; and brother, Patrick Ost.
