Louise Zimney

Louise Zimney, 72, of Bismarck, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023, at her residence under the care of hospice.  

At her request, no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, her family prefers memorials in her name to the Central Dakota Humane Society or the Bismarck-Mandan Salvation Army.

Louise was born April 21, 1951, in Sandebush Wilhelmshaven, Germany to Herman & Helen (Schultz) Vokenroth. She immigrated with her parents to the United States at a young age. Her family settled in Jamestown, ND where Louise attended school and graduated from Jamestown High School. She married Larry Zimney on January 9, 1973, in Webster, SD. They made their home in Jamestown where she worked as a bookkeeper at a local bank for a short time and then stayed home to raise their sons. They moved to Bismarck in 1999, where she enjoyed landscaping in her yard and gardening.  Louise also enjoyed fishing in her earlier years and baking at home.

She is survived by her husband, Larry of Bismarck; two sons, Lee (Jamie) Zimney & Steve (Lindsay) Zimney, both of Bismarck; one grandson, Benny Zimney; and two nieces, Lisa Entzminger of Jamestown, ND & Amy Entzminger of Duluth, MN.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Agnes, & brother, Rudy.
