Louise Markel, 84, Mandan, passed away February 18, 2017 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at St. Joseph's Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Louise was born February 10, 1933 to Michael Beckler and Magdelene (Friesz). She was raised and educated in Fallon, ND. She married Clemence Markel in, St. Anthony, on June 26, 1950. Louise was self-employed her entire life cleaning private homes and Liberty Heights. On November 1, 1985, her love, Clemence passed away.
Her absolute favorite hobby was playing bingo at Stage Stop and enjoying her daily Wimpy burgers. Every day she said her litany of the saints and prayers. Her strong Christian faith was evident in her lifestyle. She was a model of encouragement and an inspiring example of integrity and honesty. One of her greatest joys was her Grandchildren. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Louise will be deeply missed by her daughters, Sandra (Lester) Friesz, Big Lake, MN, Mary (Blaine "Mugs") Hohbein, Mandan; and from Mandan, sisters, Dorothy Berger (special friend, Harold Wolf), Jeannie (Al) Braun; brothers, Dean (Pam) Beckler, Henry (Jackie) Beckler, Mike (Pat) Beckler, Las Cruces, NM; and from Mandan, sisters-in-law Clara Markel, Deloris Beckler; brothers-in-law Jack Schaaf, Connie (Liz) Markel, Steve (Kay) Markel; 5 grandchildren, Brad (Tamara) Friesz, Maple Grove, MN, Chad (Kerry) Friesz, Deerfield IL, Shelli (Nathan) May, Nowthen MN, Brandon Hohbein, Mandan, ND, Daron Hohbein, Mandan ND; 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clemence Markel, sister, Theresa Ressler; brother, Andy Beckler; grandchild, Jaydon Hohbein, and several brother and sisters-in-law.
