Louie Koch

Louie Koch Jr., 87, Mandan, passed away October 13, 2020, at CHI St Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Father Todd Kreitinger as celebrant. Burial be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM.

Due to Covid-19, the family prefers guests to wear a mask and follow all current social distancing guidelines.

Louie was born on November 27, 1932 to Louis Koch Sr. and Aurora (Ternes) Koch. He was raised and educated in the Shields and St. Gertrude area.

Later he married Magdalene Neibauer on June 25, 1957 at St. Lawrence Church in Flasher.

After they married, they started the family’s farm on his dad’s farm in Shields. There they raised 13 children until retiring and moving to Flasher.

During his retirement he went out to help the local community with their landscaping and snow removal needs. Some of his hobbies were fishing, bowling, playing cards, pool, cooking, playing his harmonica and dancing to polka.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus and was a dedicated active member to his church community.

Louie is survived by his wife, Mandan; Adam, Bismarck; Louie and (Deb), Bismarck; Julie Lovgren, MN; Leroy (Tammy), Mandan; Robert, Bismarck; Karen and (Rick), Bismarck; Rosalie Stevens and (Scott), Mandan; Eugene and (Deb), Wilton; Yvonne Klein and (Keith), Bismarck; Michael and (Nichole), Williston; Joseph and (Bobbi), Minot; Sylvia Lesmann and (Kasey), Hazen; 38 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren

Louie is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Aurora (Ternes) Koch; his son David; and nine brothers and sisters.
