Lonnie Ray Weigel, 53, passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2023, he was living in Whitewood, SD, at the time.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Keith Streifel as celebrant. Inurnment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 13, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Lonnie Ray Weigel was born May 16, 1969, in Anchorage, Alaska, to David and Bernadette (Miller) Weigel of Mandan. Lonnie had various hobbies that mostly included being outdoors such as hunting pheasants, fishing, and deer hunting which was his favorite. Lonnie had held several jobs over the years, mainly as a cook in restaurants, a nursing home, a college, and even on a cruise liner. Lonnie also drove truck and was currently working at a VA hospital in South Dakota. Lonnie served in the US Marines and was deployed overseas during Desert Storm.
Lonnie will be deeply missed by his parents, David and Bernadette; brother, Monte (Dorothy); nephews, Chase, CJ (Anna) and their children Luke, Madison, and Levi.
Lonnie was preceded in death by his brother, Craig; grandparents, William and Margaret Weigel, and John and Anastasia Miller; cousins, Ava Quijano-Edwards, Brian and David Stotts; uncles and aunts, Raymond Miller, Richard and Gretchen Stotts, Joyce (Weigel) Loeb, and Bruce Weigel.
