Leone Devine

August 25, 1915 — April 24, 2015

Leone G. Devine, 99, Bismarck, formerly of Mandan died April 24, 2015 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center in Bismarck.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Rev. Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2015 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Leone was born on August 25, 1915 to George and Theresa (Brigl) Smith in Huff, ND. She was raised and educated in the Huff area. She worked at the Mandan Hospital before moving to Elgin Ill, where she met John Devine they married on November 23, 1939; both were working at the Watch Company until it closed in 1947. They then moved to Mankato, Mn and worked for Goodman Jewelers until 1951. John and Leone then owned and operated Devine Jewelry until 1978 when John died. Leone retired in 1982 and she moved to Mandan in 1998. Leone was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Mandan and volunteered at “Aids Thrift Shop”,

Leone will be deeply missed by her sisters, Lillian Bethke, Bismarck, ND and Luella Kary, Minot, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews and two special people in her life, Randy Evans of Kosta, Mn and Kelsey Fitzgerald, St. Paul, MN.

Leone was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; sisters, Florence Graner, Beatrice Berger, Theresa Schwartzbauer, Helen Betterley, Frona Schmidt, Minnie Ellison and Alice Helbling; brothers, Henry and Albert.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donation to St. Joseph Trust Fund or a charity of their choice.
