Leo J. Leingang, 77, of Mandan, passed away October 22, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer at Edgewood Vista, Mandan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018 at Church of Christ the King, Mandan, ND with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Leo was born July 17, 1941 to George and Rose (Haider) Leingang. He grew up on a farm in St. Anthony, ND and graduated from Mandan High School in 1960. In 1963 he married Arlene Stein. Later, in 1967 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Munich Germany where his daughter, Robyn was born.
Leo was a very funny, outgoing man who had great “one liners” and was famous for his “Leoisms”. Fishing was a favorite pastime of his as well as playing card games, especially Pinochle and Texas Holden. Leo was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed and he took great pride working at the MDU Heskett Station, Mandan.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Robyn Marie Hanson, Moorhead, MN; grandsons, Logan and Leo Hanson; sisters, Helen (Bill) Kuntz, Eldean (Bill) Fitterer and Leona (Richard) Wycarus; brothers, Frank, Raymond (Nell), Bob (Mary Ann) and Ron (Betty).
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carolyn Bullinger, Janice Fitterer and Janice at 6 years old; brother, Arnie Leingang; sister-in-law, Eileen Leingang; and brother-in-law, Richard Bullinger.
