Lenard Ressler

February 3, 1935 — June 3, 2014

Lenard Ressler, 79, Mandan, died June 3, 2014 at Sanford Health in Bismarck from complication from surgery.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Spirit of Life Catholic Church, Mandan, ND with Msgr. Chad Gion as celebrant. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Lenard John was born to John & Kathryn (Skolsky) Ressler on February 3, 1935 in Flasher, ND. He was raised on a farm in St. Anthony, ND. He married Bernice Muhlhauser on June 10, 1961 and together they raised their sons Russell & Mark. They lived all but a few years in Mandan while they were married.

Lenard was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Moose, The Eagles, American Association of Wood Turners & Steamfitters Welders Local 300 since 1953. He worked as a pipefitter/welder for the union, working at many power plants as the general foreman. He was such an excellent welder that he also taught welding to others. He loved woodworking, painting, fishing and the Cowboy Hall of Fame. He had many interests and was a Jack of all Trades.

Lenard leaves his sons, Russell, Mandan and Mark (Cindy), Strasburg; 4 grandchildren, Mandy (Jeremy) Kraft, Mandan, Megan (Casey) Perry, Bismarck, John Muhlhauser, Strasburg and Jasmine Ressler, Minot; great-grandchild, Mazy Grace Kraft, Mandan; sisters, Evie Russell, Mandan, Leonie (Fred) Smith, Mandan, Dorothy Zander, Renton, WA, Kathy (Jim) Costello, LeMerda, CA and Hilda Gray, Seattle, WA; brothers, Richard (Karen) and Clark (Connie), Des Moines, WA; sister-in-law, Jessie, Rock Springs, WY.

Lenard was preceded in death by his 3 month old son, Randy Scott Ressler; parents; sisters, Flo (John) McGaughey and Irene (Pete) Gerhardt; brother, Lawrence and brothers-in-law, Harry Zander and Don Russell.

He will be loved and dearly missed by his entire family and his many friends.
