Lawrence A. Feist, Jr, 85, Bismarck, passed away July 10, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Care Center in Bismarck.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, July 15, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bismarck, ND with Rev. Al Bitz as celebrant. Burial will be at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Bismarck AMVETS #9.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7: 00 pm followed by a Parish Vigil. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Larry was born on February 14, 1931 to Lawrence and Magdelena (Welder) Feist, Sr. in Napoleon, ND. He was raised and educated in the Napoleon area. He was in the United States Army from 1950-1953 serving stateside during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he returned to North Dakota and started working in Logan County where he did road construction. Larry married Leona Kambeitz on January 3, 1957 in Napoleon. After their marriage they moved to Edgeley, ND, where Larry worked for North Dakota State Highway Department for 34 years, retiring in 1993. They moved to Bismarck in 1998.
Larry was a hardworking man and enjoyed working for area farmers in the evenings and enjoyed mowing lawns. He was devoted to his church parish along with being a member of Knights of Columbus, Bismarck AMVETS and St. Mary’s Church. Larry’s family was the center of his life and he enjoyed the times spent with his children, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Larry will be deeply missed by his wife, Leona, Bismarck, ND; daughters, Jonella (Jim) Neis, Mandan, ND, JoLinda (Doug) Woehl, Bismarck, ND, Joan (Tim) Holt, Columbia, MO, Julie (Kevin) Geiger, Watertown, SD, Jacinta (Jon) Williams, Spirit Lake, IA and Joyce ( Pat) Pfeifer, Watertown, SD; sons, Lynn (Vickie) Feist, Pierre, SD and Lee Feist, Bismarck, ND; 19 grandchildren, Jason Neis, Justin (Anna) Neis, Amanda Neis, Ashley (David) Dobier, Heidi (Chad) Aughinbaugh, Chad Woehl, Erica Woehl, Alex (Amanda) Feist, Bethanna (Ryan) Baloun, Bridget (Chris) Schapp, Shane Feist, Jessica Holt, Jennifer (Dan) Schmidt, Isaac and Jacob Geiger, Ayrton Williams, Madison Williams, Jonny Pfeifer and Megan Pfeifer; 9 great-grandchildren, William, Caden, Hailey, Braxton, Camden, Kira, Aubrey, Liam and Karver; sisters, Katie Weigel, Napoleon, ND, Pauline Beulow, Bismarck, ND, Maggie (Martin) Leier, Kintyre, ND, Alvina (Elmer) Madler, Mandan, ND, Florence (Gene) Mosbrucker, Mandan, ND and Mary Jean Feist, Fargo, ND; brother, Joe (Donna) Feist, Napoleon, ND and brother-in-law, Andy Horner, Linton, ND along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Larry Joe; sister, Rose Horner and brothers-in-law, Ben Weigel and Steve Beulow.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sanford Health on Sunset and Sanford St. Vincent’s Care Center for the loving care Larry received.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given in Larry’s name to the donor's choice.
