Kelly Joe Schultz, was born on October 19, 1967 in Mandan, the son of Alvin and Katherine (Metzner) Schultz. He was raised and educated in Mandan. At the completion of his schooling, Kelly went to work transporting manufactured homes. Through this work he became very familiar with the maintenance needs for these homes and he eventually established his own business working on them.
Known for his love of the great outdoors, Kelly inherited a family tradition of trapping, leading him to an adventurous life filled with hunting, trapping, and fishing. His favorite pastime was hunting white-tail deer but never missed an opportunity to hunt geese, sharp-tailed grouse, and pheasant. He also shared several memorable bear hunting trips with his daughter in White Sulphur Springs, MT. Another notable accomplishment was filling his once in a lifetime ND bull elk tag with a trophy bull in the Badlands in September of 2023.
Along with gardening and taking care of his property, Kelly enjoyed cutting firewood and selling it. He found satisfaction from being in the simplicity of nature.
Kelly will be remembered most for his love and dedication to his daughter DessaRae, she meant the world to him. May his love for the outdoors and zest for life forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
Kelly leaves behind his cherished daughter DessaRae Schultz; friend, Becky Graner; brothers: Bruce (Carla) Schultz, and Doug (Kristin) Schultz; sisters-in-law Bonnie Schultz and Judy Schultz; several nieces, nephews and his loyal mini-Aussie, Poochie. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Brian as well as brothers: Rodney and Alvin.
