Karol E. Peterson, 84, Mandan, passed away September 17, 2016 at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND with Rev. Christina Martin officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 6:00 pm -8:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, ND and will continue one hour before the service on Thursday.
Karol was born on July 26, 1932 to Clarence and Agnes (Syvertson) Robinson in Hillsboro, Oregon. She was raised and educated in that area. She married Russell F. Peterson on August 23, 1953 in Hillsboro, OR. Karol was a homemaker and took pride in her family. She had a sense of adventure and would often take mystery day trips to parts unknown. She was an outgoing and likeable lady that enjoyed her independence. Traveling to China was one of the highlights in Karol's life besides travel throughout the United States.
Karol was a talented seamstress; she made many beautiful quilts, which she won awards for. She would also make amazing lace. Besides traveling, Karol enjoyed gardening, bowling, stamp collecting and baking apple pies she would pick from her own apple trees.
Karol will be deeply missed by her sons, Russell D. (Jackie), Indianapolis, IN and Douglas (Brenda) Bismarck, ND; daughter-in-law, Gaudlag Peterson; 6 grandchildren, Lisa, Lindsey, Mark, Sarah, Agusta and Fondahn and 3 great-grandchildren, Dallas, Lauren and Mya; sister, June (Hans) Bolli, Greer, SC and brother, Clarence, Jr. (Fran) Robinson, Stayton, OR.
Karol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Russell who passed away in 1990; son, Darwin and an infant sister, Irene.
