Karen Schmidt

Karen E. Schmidt, 57, Bismarck, ND met her angels on July 21, 2020.  Services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020, at 10AM at the First Lutheran Church, 408 9th Street NW, Mandan, ND. Public visitation will take place on Sunday, July 26th at the Weigel Funeral Home from 4PM – 6PM.  Burial will take place in Lemmon, SD, on Tuesday, July 28th, at 11AM MST.

Karen was born August 21, 1962, to LeRoy and Edith Evonne Schumacher in Baker, MT. Karen worked for 20+ years at United Blood Services/Vitalant.  She was a passionate educator on blood donation.  A part of Karen will live on because she was a blood donor. Karen was part of a special group called Heroes for Babies due to her rare blood type.

Karen loved animals but she really loved anything about horses.  She enjoyed visiting friends who owned horses where she always had horse treats to share.  She collected Breyer Horses.  She loved her cats and dogs.  Karen enjoyed traveling to Medora to watch the wild horses. She always had to find those horses.  Karen enjoyed watching the Triple Crown Races and always dreamed of attending a Kentucky Derby while enjoying a Mint Julep.

Karen will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Robert; her precious son, Sampson; daughter Rena (Mark) Dwelle; grandson Max Georgeson; brothers, Darc Schumacher, Gordon Schumacher; sister Chandra (Scott) Storm; nephews and niece, Nicholas Schumacher, Christopher Schumacher, Bailee Storm, Travis Storm.

Karen preceded in death by her parents.
