June Marchus

June Adell Marchus, 81, of Bismarck, passed away December 22, 2024, at Elm Crest Manor in New Salem.

A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

June was born June 8, 1943, in McClusky, ND, the second of four children to Harry and Anetta (Helm) Murray. Raised and educated in McClusky, June loved to milk cows and haul hay bales with her Dad. In school she participated in tumbling and graduated in 1962. On August 31, 1968, June married Gary Marchus at St. Johns Lutheran Church in McClusky.

June worked at McClusky Drug and Kmart, was an interior decorator, and was a dedicated receptionist at MedCenter1 for many years. She retired in 2008 and then spent her time relaxing and fishing at their lake cabin at Dakota Waters near Beulah, ND. She loved to fish and entertain everyone who came out to stay with them and loved cooking up walleye. Her greatest joy came from her family and the time spent at their cabin.

June had an open heart and welcoming spirit that drew people to her. She enjoyed life and embraced her love for sewing, gardening, fishing, oil painting, and her dog, Buttons. June will be remembered most for her strong faith, kindness, and generosity. She was a devoted wife, cherished mother, and an adoring grandmother.

Blessed to have shared in her life is her husband of 56 years, Gary Marchus, Bismarck; sons, Troy (Jennifer) Marchus, of Windsor, CO, Wayne Marchus and Del Marchus, both of Bismarck; six grandchildren, Makenze and Siera Marchus, Seth, Jayden, and Sean Marchus, and Aliya Marchus; and her brother, Ray (Willa) Murray, of Mercer, ND.

June was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Mary Lou Alexander and Jim Murray; and beloved dog, Buttons.
