Julie Leingang

January 4, 1941 — August 16, 2023

Julie Leingang, 82, of Mandan, passed away August 16, 2023, at a Bismarck hospital.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan, with Fr. Joshua Waltz celebrating.  Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Julie was born January 4, 1941, in Mandan, the daughter of George and Julia (Gangl) Wetsch. She was raised in St. Anthony where she attended grade school and graduated from Mandan High School in 1957.  On October 2, 1957, Julie married the love of her life, Leonard Leingang, and together they raised five children in Mandan. Julie worked as the school secretary at Mandan Junior High for 28 years. She always had a love for music and starting at a young age she was in school choir then went on to sing in the church choir. She had a beautiful singing voice! Julie could also play both the organ and the accordion by ear. Julie loved playing cards and played Bridge for years. She was an amazing cook and baker and her family dubbed her “The Cooking Goddess”. Julie and Leonard spent many wonderful weekends camping and fishing with family and friends. After retirement they spent their winters in Mesquite, NV where they made many lifelong friends. Julie’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the most important part of her life, and she spent as much time with them as possible creating wonderful memories!

Julie was so loved and will be deeply missed by her daughter, Tammy (Tim) Albrecht and her sons, Jody (Laurie), Greg (Wendy), and Todd (Shelly); 8 grandchildren, John (Kaleigh) Leingang, Shawna (Chris) Helbling, Shane (Brittany) Leingang, Ashley (Josh) Jacobchick, Jamie (Ty) Mowder, Amanda (Eric) Leingang, Ross (Deanna) Leingang, and Alexandra (Damion) Brown; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jerry (Nancy) Wetsch; sister-in-law, JoAnn Wetsch; her companion of 10 years, Vic Anheluk; sisters-in-law, Darlene Hohbein, Bernadette (Mike) Schaff, and Bernice Leingang; and many nieces and nephews.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard in 2008; son, Dean; brother, Jim; and granddaughter, Sarah Leingang.

Mom’s beautiful smile and feistiness will be forever in our hearts and memories. Love you, Mom!
