Judith Sandau
November 4, 1941 — May 23, 2016
Judith Ann Sandau, 74, Liberty Heights in Mandan, passed away May 23, 2016 at Sanford Health in Bismarck following a weekend full of family and love.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 27, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, ND with Rev. Steve Sathre officiating. Burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Judith was born on November 4, 1941 the youngest girl and the 13th of 15 children to Roy and Frances (Galbraith) Hulm in Bismarck, ND. She was raised and educated in Bismarck graduating from Bismarck High School. Judith married Harry David Sandau on September 17, 1960 in Bismarck, together they raised 6 children.
Judy waitressed on and off and she and Harry had a variety of businesses including a vacuum shop, selling white ware, a janitorial service and flea markets. Even though Judy was a hard working woman her family came first, she always had time to take care of all their needs. She was an awesome cook and kept their home beautifully. Judy had the biggest heart; she was full of love and compassion for all that passed through her life. Her home and her heart were always open. Above all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren where her greatest love. Her devotion to God was evident always, despite all the trials she had in her hard life she still was always the optimistic and forgiving soul. Judy enjoyed bingo, playing cards and all types of games. This would be something Judy would always say:
“Those who died yesterday had plans for this morning. And those who died this morning had plans for tonight. Don’t take life for granted. In the blink of an eye, everything can change. So forgive often and love with all your heart.”
Judith will be deeply missed by daughters, Kim Brandt, Hebron, ND and Francine (Delvin) Morrell, Mandan, ND; sons, Perry, Mandan, ND, Terry, Gillette, WY and Jerry (Kristy), Palm Desert, CA; 12 grandchildren, Samantha, Jeffery, Jennifer, Aspen, Katie, Nicole, Brooke, Billy, Alicia, Cole, Darold and Sara; 5 great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Elijah, Castiel, Derek and Jayden; brothers, Leo Hulm, Kilen, TX, Ted (Carol) Hulm and Jerry (Bev) Hulm both of Bismarck, ND and special friends, Burt Daly and Cindy Nickel.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry who died in 1996; son, Timothy Leo; grandson, Timothy James Sandau; sisters, Rose, Theresa, Patricia, Mary, Felecia, Cecelia and Clara and brothers, Roy, John, Paul and Don.
