Joseph P. Klein

Joseph P. Klein, 89, Mandan, passed away surrounded by his family on December 12, 2022, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 19, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan.

Visitation will be on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with Rosary/Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church, with burial immediately following at Mandan Union Cemetery. A luncheon will begin following the burial in the school cafeteria. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a charity of your choice. A livestream of the service will be available below.

Joseph was born on March 17, 1933, in Dodge, ND. He was the third child of Leo and Teresa (Schumacher) Klein. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Patricia (Koffler); children, Leon (Cindy), Mandan, Gerard (Ellen), Bismarck, Allison (Greg) Schumacher, Bismarck, Alan (Kristi), Mandan, Jennifer (Keith) Merkel, Bismarck, and Amanda (Chad) Vinchattle, Bismarck; 14 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Genevieve Klein of Carpinteria, CA, Cecilia Milisch of Greenfield, WI, and Rosemary (Alvin) Glaser of Bismarck, ND; and sister-in-law, Polly Messer of Hugo, CO.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Jack Kathrein, Amy and Pius Schmaltz, brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Rose Klein, Leo Jr. and Alberta Klein, and brothers-in-law, Clarence Messer and Al Milisch and granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Schumacher.
