John Anthony Schwindt, 64, Mandan, went home to be with his heavenly Father Sunday, May 4, 2014.
Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Century Baptist Church, Bismarck, ND with Rev. Gordon Stork officiating. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery, Washburn, ND following the Service.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
John was born on January 13, 1950 the youngest of eight children, born to John V. and Barbara (Kary) Schwindt in Dickinson, ND. He was raised and educated in the Dickinson area graduating from Trinity High School in 1968 then attending North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, graduating with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electronics. He had a 40 year career with the Xerox Corporation as a Service Engineer. He served 6 years in the North Dakota National Guard.
John always had a contagious smile for family and friends. They knew he had a genuine love and affection for them. John was a gifted musician. He played in high school rock bands, country rock bands, and various other groups including worship teams where he attended church. But playing music with his brother, Ted was always a favorite and special time. John made many good friends through his music. John enjoyed carpentry and was also a jack of all trades. He was able to fix just about anything that was broken. It was not uncommon for friends and family to ask him to fix something which he enjoyed doing.
John will be deeply missed by the loves of his life, his wife of 35 years, Linda Lou (Grueneich) Schwindt; his daughter, LeAnn (Keith) Bulicz, Aspen, CO; son, Jason (Sherry) Schwindt and grandson, Alexander Jon Michael, Crookston, MN. John was a loving and caring husband and father. Also surviving is good friend, Lynn Dietz, mother of LeAnn and Jason; brother, Ted (Maria) Schwindt, Woodland, WA; sisters, Florentine (Russell Means) Metz, Albany, OR, Caroline Thompson, Spokane, WA, Lenora Stanger, Luella (Nick) Hendricks and Lucille Lamprecht all from Dickinson, ND; brother-in-law, Phillip M. Walker, Lake Wales, FL; nieces and nephews, Virginia (Mike) Kinnaman, Lawrence Schwindt, Sandra (Rod) Cottrell, Becky (David) Seid, Shirleen Metz, Lynette (Robert) Mattson, Dana (Dave) Roth, Michael Dukart, LaVonne (Kevin) Wojahn, Alvin (Chela) Galster, LaDonna (Jeff) McMahen, Allan Galster, Arlon (Lisa) Galster, Rodney (Peggy) Hindricks, Carla (Jim) Hlebechuk, Brenda (Pat) Schmitz, Russell (Lisa) Hendricks, Frances (Zane) Zuther, Steven (Lori) Walker, Linda Huffman, Pamela (Steve) Winter, Phillip J. Walker, Jeffrey Lamprecht and Jacqueline (Michael) Jezierski along with numerous grand nieces and nephews.
John was reunited with his parents; infant brother, Lawrence; sister, Patricia Walker; brothers-in-law, Steve J. Metz, Chuck Thompson, Everett Stanger and Philip Lamprecht and niece, Marlene Metz.
