John Deibert, 80, Bismarck, died May 10, 2015 at CHI St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Legacy United Methodist Church, Bismarck, ND with Rev. Kermit Culver officiating. Inurnment will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery with military honors provided by the Mandan VFW Post #707 and American Legion Post #40.

John was born July 4, 1934 to Joseph and Agatha (Mitzel) Deibert in Burnstad, ND. He spent his youth growing up in various areas of North Dakota. He attended elementary school in a one-room schoolhouse near Burnstad, N.D. He then spent one year of high school at Richardton Abbey before graduating from Napoleon High School in 1953.

John married Eleanor Senger in 1957 and to this union two daughters were adopted. In 1991 he married Barb Mueller.

John proudly served his country as an active member of the Marines, after which he went back to school to earn a degree from Capital Commercial College in Bismarck.

Always keeping his eyes open for his next project, he purchased a bus, which he turned into a camping vessel to entertain friends and family. This eventually led to him purchasing a spot on Lake Tschida, where he spent his weekends in the summer fixing, building and fidgeting with anything he could get his hands on. Guests of the lake will fondly remember joyous nights dancing around big bon fires. His family still enjoys the benefits of his hard work at the lake to this day.

Many can attest to John’s thoughtfulness, as he frequently sent newspaper clippings of relevant topics to his friends and family. His vintage typewriter was his favorite mode of communication, on which he penned many editorial columns for various newspapers including the Bismarck Tribune.

John’s ancestry fascinated him and he spent a great deal of time investigating his family’s lineage and distributing those findings throughout his family tree. He also developed an interest in studying law, which led to him to starting his own collection and detective agency.

John will be deeply missed by his wife Barb, Bismarck; daughters, Nita (Jim) Jeromchek, Mandan and Kim (Todd) Orchard, Lincoln; step-sons, Daniel (Pat) Mueller, Golden Valley, Jim (Janitda) Mueller, and Matthew (Amy) Mueller both of Bismarck; 4 grandchildren, James (Alicia) Jeromchek, Jordan Jeromchek, Ian Orchard and Ellie Orchard; 1 great-grandchild, Sophia Jeromchek; step-grandchildren, Michael Mueller, Stephanie (Greg) Doll, Hayden Mueller and Rory Mueller; sister, Marie Young, Jacksonville, FL.; brother, Patrick Deibert, Cudahy, WI. And his beloved cat, Cricket.

John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, George.
