Jerry J. Vaulters, Sr.

Jerry J. Vaulters, Sr., age 77 of Fort Yates, ND passed away July 6, 2023 at Sanford Health in Bismarck.

Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday, July 11^th at Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, 1701 Sunset Dr., in Mandan followed by a 6:00 PM Prayer Service.

A funeral ceremony will be held 11:00 AM Friday, July 14^th at the Agard Building in Fort Yates followed by burial.  A procession will leave at 9:00 AM Friday morning from Buehler-Larson Funeral Home to Fort Yates.

Jerry was born in 1946 in Bullhead, SD to James Miles & Alice Marie (Wears Horn) Vaulters.  He attended Fort Yates High School and Sitting Bull College.  Jerry served in the U.S. Army and worked as a laborer and custodian for most of his working career.  He was married to Virginia Callousleg Siaka (White Shield).  Jerry loved playing bingo and was known as the “bingo king”.  He loved to joke with people and was known for his laughter.  He enjoyed playing card tricks, attending and dancing in pow-wows, going to the casino, and sporting events. 

He is survived by 4 children; Jerry Vaulters Jr. of Fort Yates, Geraldine Vaulters of Fargo, Andrea Annette of New Town, CT, & Gena Ertelt of Prior Lake, MN; 7 grandchildren, & 3 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Rita Loon of Fort Yates.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Virginia), life partner (Mary Jane Painte), siblings (Melda, Evelyn, Eva, Elanore, Laura, Helene, and Marvin), granddaughter (Ashley), and grandson (Andrew).
