Jacquelyn Slavick

Jacquelyn M. Slavick, 79, New Salem, ND, passed away at her home August 15, 2017.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 19, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Flasher, ND, with Reverend Dennis Schafer and Reverend John Guthrie as concelebrants. Burial will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 18, from 3-8 pm at Weigel Funeral Home in Mandan with a Rosary/Parish Vigil at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Jackie was born on August 17, 1937, to John and Magdalen Jochim, Flasher, ND. She graduated from Flasher High School in 1956, obtained a teaching certificate from Dickinson State Teachers College in 1957, and taught school at a rural one-room school two years prior to marrying Robert E. Slavick on October 6, 1959 in Flasher. Jackie was active for many years at St. Pius Catholic Church. Through the years, she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, lector, and Eucharistic Minister. Jackie was also an active member of the North Dakota Cattlewomen for 35 years where she served a term as president.
After losing her beloved husband last summer, Jackie appreciated the support she received from the LOTUS Grief Support Group at Parkway Funeral Home. Jackie wanted to go to Hawaii for her 80th birthday and was able to fulfill that wish this past July. She was grateful to have her grandson, Robert Daniel, living with her the past fourteen months.
Jackie will be missed by her children, Robert J. (Kathleen) Slavick, Mandan, ND; Ann (Jim) Fieser, Columbia, MO and Elizabeth Slavick, Medford, OR; her ten grandchildren, Robert D., Kaitlyn, and Kathryn Slavick, Tom, Sam and Joanie Fieser, and Emily, Timothy, Teresa, and Michaela Schatz; her sisters Angie (Alex) Schafer and Alouise Michlitsch; her brother, John (Kathleen) Jochim and all of her nieces and nephews.
Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E., who died June 7, 2016; her parents; her sisters, Odell (Emil) Polensky, Joan (Bart) Ludwig, Nettie (Tony) Barth;
